2024 VinFast Model Lineup

2024 VinFast Model LineupWho is VinFast?

VinFast Auto Ltd. is the automotive subsidiary of Vingroup. VinFast was founded in 2017 by Vietnamese billionaire businessman Phạm Nhật Vượng and is the first Vietnamese company to offer products in the global market. First developing electric scooters and gas-powered vehicles, VinFast has quickly transitioned into a worldwide EV brand.

A new state-of-the-art 828-acre manufacturing plant was built as VinFast’s headquarters in September 2017. Roughly 90% of its automotive production is automated. In 2018, they introduced the first line of vehicles called Lux at the 2018 Paris Motor Show and were given the “A Star is Born” award by Autobest

Who is Ewing VinFast?

Ewing VinFast is one of the first VinFast dealer franchises in the United States. Ewing believes the Vietnamese EV company is perfect for buyers looking to purchase their first electric car. VinFast offers competitively priced cars that give buyers a great alternative to other well-known brands. VinFast models focus on luxury, amenities, and ease of use rather than performance and speed.

How many models does VinFast make?

Currently, VinFast has three models coming to the United States: the VF6, VF7, VF8, and VF9. Ewing VinFast currently has VF8 models, with VF9 models soon to arrive. VF6 and VF7 models will start arriving at a later date.

All VinFast models have two trim levels available: Eco and Plus. The currently available VF8 has an EPA estimated range of 264 miles, while the top-line Plus trim is estimated to have a range of up to 243 miles.

The VF9 Eco models can travel 330 miles on a single charge, and the Plus models drive 291 miles when fully charged.

Where are VinFast vehicles made?

As of right now, all VinFast cars are produced in Haiphong, Vietnam. Production for all U.S.-sold vehicles will be at the brand-new facility in Moncure, North Carolina, about 60 miles outside of Research Triangle Park (RTP).

The American manufacturing facility is a $4 billion investment by Vingroup and will be just shy of 2,000 acres and potentially employ as many as 7,500 people. The plant is expected to be opened by the end of 2025 and will have the capacity to build 150,000 cars per year. Customers will be able to take advantage of the $7,500 federal tax credit for EVs assembled in the United States.

VinFast cars are taking the market by storm, and the company hopes to sell 100,000 vehicles in 2024.

What to look for when test-driving an EV

Vinfast VF8 Front View

When buying an electric vehicle, there may be some hesitation or nervousness if you aren’t used to driving an EV and understand that it drives a little differently than a car with an internal combustion engine. While a car is a car, there are some subtle and not-so-subtle differences between the different engine types.

One thing that may seem odd initially with an EV is one-pedal driving. This does not mean that there is only a single pedal. One-pedal driving means that when driving normally, once you take your foot off the gas pedal, the car will immediately start to slow down and come to an eventual stop. Obviously, you can still use the brake pedal to come to a stop more quickly, and taking your foot off the throttle will immediately engage the brake lights. Any time you let off the accelerator or use the brakes, the motor utilizes the kinetic energy of braking to provide battery regeneration power to the motor. You can actually increase your driving range over time by being in stop-and-go traffic.

100% Power All The Time

Speaking of one-pedal driving, people who aren’t used to driving EVs always love the instant torque that the battery motor supplies. There is no waiting for the engine to spool up, and the car just keeps on going without shifting any gears—just pure power from any speed.

Pure Silence

As you are driving, notice how quiet the car is while going down the road and on the highway. While in a gas-powered car, you get used to hearing the engine, exhaust, and related noises; an electric vehicle does not have those sounds. Instead, you don’t have to turn the radio up as loudly to try and drown out other car sounds.

Infotainment Display

Most EVs have one central-mounted infotainment touchscreen display. The VinFast VF8 features a 15.6-inch display that allows the driver and front passenger to control everything in the vehicle within seconds. Any setting you can think of is at your fingertips. The large head-up display also gives relevant information to the driver, including turn-by-turn navigation, speed, range, and the like.
