Overview
The 2024 VinFast VF 8 is an all-electric vehicle that is engineered and built to be a great option for buyers who are either new to the world of EVs or those who have had multiple electric cars. As a crossover SUV the VF 8 has plenty of space for 5 adults and their luggage, the latest and greatest safety technology, and a 15.6-inch touchscreen that shows all the relevant information drivers and passengers need. Buyers can choose between the Eco and Plus trim levels with up to 264 miles of range and the ability to get to 60 mph in under 5.5 seconds. Unlike other electric vehicles on the market, all VF 8 models feature dual motors and all-wheel drive. Most cars have multiple trim levels that are single motor and rear-wheel drive, and you have to play a lot more to get a dual-motor and all-wheel drive. Upon purchasing a VinFast VF 8 customers will get a standard 10-year, 125,000-mile warranty, plus a 10-year, unlimited-mile battery warranty.
Performance
The 2024 VF 8 Eco can get from 0-60 mph in 5.9 seconds, thanks to its 349 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque and standard all-wheel drive. The Plus trim level features 402 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque. While VinFast quotes a 0-60 time of under 5.5 seconds for the VF 8 Plus, Car and Driver were able to get to 60 in 5 seconds flat, which is quite fast. The VinFast crossover can also tow up to 4,000 lbs.
Exterior
The exterior styling of the VF 8 was designed by Pininfarina, a design house responsible for some of the most beautiful cars in automotive history. The overall styling is meant to evoke that of a sports car and a unique appearance overall for EV customers, especially with LED lighting almost all the way across the entire front end leading to the VinFast V logo. Because of this the VF 8 is very aerodynamic. Buyers can choose from 8 different exterior colors to have their own distinctive look. The VF 8 has a wheelbase of 116.1 inches with an overall length of 187 inches, or 15.6 feet, 76.1 inches wide, 65.6 inches tall, and has a ground clearance of 6.8 inches.
Interior
With high-end luxury materials, the interior of the VF 8 puts comfort and usability at the top of the list. The base Eco trim level features leatherette seating materials with 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat and a 6-way power adjustable passenger seat. Both seats come heated as standard. The top of the line Plus models come standard with vegan leather and 12-way power and memory seats for the driver and 10-way power seats for the passenger. Both driver and passenger seats are heated and ventilated. A heated vegan leather steering wheel with 4-way power adjustability is standard on all trim levels. Pro models also featured both heated and ventilated rear seats. All models also come standard with dual-zone climate control. Eco models have an 8-speaker sound system as standard. Plus models have a standard panoramic roof with a 10-speaker audio system. The rear cargo area features 48 cu.ft. of space with an extra 2.7 cu.ft. in the front trunk, or frunk.
Technology
All models feature a 15.6-inch touchscreen that can control everything with the vehicle, allowing drivers and passengers to have everything they want or need at their fingertips. A beautiful and bright head-up display is also standard on all models. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard across the board. Both Eco and Pro models feature 2 USB-A ports up front, 2 USB-A ports and 1 USB-C ports for rear passengers to keep all devices charged up. All VF 8 models have an 87.7 kWh battery that can be charged from 10-70% in just 31 minutes. With the use of the VinFast app, customers don’t have to worry about having all of the various charging companies’ apps to charge their vehicle at a public station. Instead, the VinFast app will automatically charge your card on file allowing you to start charging more quickly and with less annoyance.
Safety
The VF 8 features the latest Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) with lots of standard safety equipment, including Traffic Jam Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Highway Driving Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Centering Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Automatic Emergency Braking, Intelligent Speed Recognition, Traffic Sign Recognition, Forward Collision Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Detection, Door Opening Warning, Front Automatic Emergency Braking, Emergency Lane Keep Assist, Front Parking Assist, Rear Parking Assist, backup camera, Automatic High Beam, and a 360-degree Surround View Camera system.
