Overview
The VinFast VF9 is the largest all-electric VinFast model available in the United States. It has either 6 or 7 seats and is poised to be a cost-effective option for those looking for a luxury EV SUV that can travel over 300 miles on a single charge. Buyers will love that the VF9 is built for luxury rather than fast 0-60 mph times, which proves little about an electric vehicle’s ability. When buying a VF9, customers have the option of two trim models, Eco and Plus. Both feature the latest and greatest standard safety technology and loads of standard luxury and amenities. VinFast VF9 customers will get a standard 10-year, 125,000-mile warranty plus a 10-year, unlimited-mile battery warranty.
Performance
All VF9 models have a dual-motor 123 kWh battery system that produces 402 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque and can reach 60 mph in about 6.5 seconds. Some vehicles use fast speeds to attempt to justify their high prices. Both the Eco and Plus have standard all-wheel drive.
Eco models can travel 330 miles on a single charge, with Plus models driving 291 miles when fully charged. When properly equipped, both models can tow up to 4,000 lbs. When using a DC fast charger, both models can charge from 10-70% in just 35 minutes.
Exterior
With its sleek styling and Italian-designed exterior from Pininfarina, the VF9 was created to cut through the air. Pininfarina has designed some of the most beautiful and seductive vehicles in automotive history, and the VF9 is their latest success at creating a vehicle that is attractive and modern without sacrificing the usable size and space that a 7-passenger needs. The Eco models feature 20-inch alloy wheels, whereas the Plus has 21-inch wheels, and a 22-inch wheel is optional. Like its younger sibling, the VF8, the VF9 has a long-running LED light stream that starts at the top of the headlights and goes to the center of the grille to accentuate the VinFast V logo.
Interior
All VF9 models have high-end luxury leatherette and vegan leather surfaces, depending on trim level. Eco and Plus models have different adjustability levels between seats. Both models also have a 13-speaker sound system.
For Eco trims, the driver, passenger, and second-row occupants have power-adjustable seats, with heated seats for the driver and front passenger. The driver chair is 8-way, with 6-way adjustability for the front passenger. The second-row passengers can adjust their seats up to 4 different ways. A heated steering wheel is also standard.
All VF9 Plus models have more adjustability for front and second-row passengers. Drivers get a 12-way power seat, the front passenger gets a 10-way seat power, and when equipped with second-row captain’s chairs, passengers can move their seats eight ways. Front and second-row seats also have standard heat, ventilation, and massage functions to keep everyone comfortable and happy, especially on long drives. Plus models also have a standard memory driver’s seat with a memory steering wheel, too. Second-row passengers also get an 8-inch screen to watch and browse content.Eco models have dual-zone climate control, while Plus models feature a tri-zone climate system.
Technology
The Eco and Plus trims have a center-mounted 15.6-inch touchscreen that controls everything in the vehicle, allowing drivers and passengers to have all the information and games they want or need at their fingertips. A beautiful, bright head-up display gives drivers relevant driving information such as navigation, speed, speed limit, and the like. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard across the board.
No matter which trim level you choose, VinFast has enough USB ports to keep your devices topped up regardless of how long you drive. Both models feature 2 USB-A ports up front, 2 USB-A ports for second-row passengers, one 90-watt USB-C port for rear passengers, and 2 USB-A ports for the third row. Plus, there are two extra USB-A ports in models with the optional captain’s chairs.
Safety
The VF8 features the latest Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) with lots of standard safety equipment, including Traffic Jam Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Highway Driving Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Centering Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Automatic Emergency Braking, Intelligent Speed Recognition, Traffic Sign Recognition, Forward Collision Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Detection, Door Opening Warning, Front Automatic Emergency Braking, Emergency Lane Keep Assist, Front Parking Assist, Rear Parking Assist, backup camera, Automatic High Beam, and a 360-degree Surround View Camera system.
